BOON ANIMAL SANCTUARY

This story is a special one: Kasey (one of our directors) received a Facebook notice from a kill shelter in California about a Frenchie with IVDD. He was due to be euthanized in 48 hours. Now whether it hit a soft spot because we had just brought home two Frenchies with IVDD or maybe it was because she was 8 months pregnant and emotions were high….. either way we started making phone calls immediately. On Thursday, July 31, 2024 just hours before “his time was up” We got word that both him and another Frenchie (who was obviously used as a bait dog) were picked up and taken to Pug Nation.
It took nine long months for us to get down to Pug Nation, but on May 11, 2025, Kismet came home. It has been a huge learning curve for both kismet and us. We don’t know what he endured during his time on the streets, but it is obvious he has been hurt by his reactions to men and kids. We have a long road ahead of us and hope that he will one day trust again. Until then, he has a love, a forever home, a safe space when he gets overwhelmed and of course medication to help along the journey.
